Southeastern Continues to Plan for Aiken Mall
Since announcing the redevelopment of the Aiken Mall in June, Southeastern Development Associates have been working with the City of Aiken on bring this mall back to life. While it may not look like much movement has occurred over the past six months to the public eye, Southeastern has been in continuous contact with possible new tenants. The newly developed area will include an ample amount of new restaurants, additional retail stores, open space including walking trails, and potentially an entertainment aspect.
Southeastern has begun the campaign to recruit new tenants. “Our success in recruiting will define the overall site plan and design for the center. This process is more time consuming, but is necessary in creating a great place for Aiken,” says Vic Mills, CEO of Southeastern.
The Aiken Mall site is in a prime location. It is located along the busy Whiskey Road commercial corridor and also is close to the upscale Woodside Plantation residential community, which Mills says will provide an excellent client base for the new development.
This is a key investment that Aiken city leaders hope will gain the attention of all generations and bring the mall back as a key place of interest for the citizens of Aiken. With a new year before us, Southeastern continues its efforts behind the scenes to put plans into action as soon as possible for the redevelopment of the Aiken Mall property.
