Officials Break Ground on Residence Inn

Plans for a 96-room hotel is coming to Summerville, South Carolina and is expected to open up in late spring 2018.

Officials gathered February 24th to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Residence Inn by Marriott, coming to the growing Nexton community in Summerville.

The hotel is being built near The Courtyard by Marriott, which opened in 2014. Both hotels are managed by LBA Hospitality.

Southeastern, which provides commercial development and real estate brokerage services throughout the Southeast, is developing the project.

Beau Benton, president of LBA Hospitality, said he was very excited about the new project.

“It’s a product that’s going to fit in perfectly with this Nexton development,” he said.

Summerville Town Councilman Aaron Brown said Summerville is rapidly growing, fueled by certain things such as lower taxes and popular school districts, and businesses such as Volvo and Mercedes Benz coming in.

Brown welcomed development officials to the Summerville area.

“Thank you and God bless you all,” he said.

Norman Brody, director of commercial development at WestRock and Nexton, spoke on behalf of Nexton officials, saying they are “very happy” about the hotel and that Nexton has a lot of good things happening in the next year.
